Stu/"Simply Stu" is an avid triathlete who loves to talk about triathlons, running and sport in general. He is married with two teenage children. Stu has done countless triathlons and 10 marathons for Team In Training in support of his daughter, who had Leukemia at 10-months-old.
Among his accolades, Stu is also the voice behind The Simply Stu Triathlon Podcast, The Zippcast Podcast, and serves as the announcer for various races including The Rev3 Triathlon Series, The Capital View Triathlon, The Chicago Half-Marathon, and The Madison Half-Marathon. Tracy/"Iron Wil" is a married mom of two grade-schoolers and a high school English teacher in the Midwest. Since Wil's triathlon debut in 2004, she has completed sprint to Ironman distance triathlons, several marathons, and numerous half-marathons.
"Wil" co-hosted the popular triathlon podcast, Get Your Geek On! and organizes the annual WIBA training weekend in Madison, Wisconsin with her teammate RobbyB. After her first triathlon in 2005, she knew she had stumbled across something life-changing. She thrives on competition and the desire to continually improve. Her long-term goal and dream of a lifetime would be to qualify and race in Kona (but, hey, who wouldn't want that!).
Endurance sport has spilled over into other facets of her life as she has a special interest in family fitness and community wellness. She believes a passion for physical activity and a healthy lifestyle has its root in the home. Michelle looks forward to exploring areas of nutrition, exercise, and racing with a family focus. He prefers to race Xterra, but being stuck in the cornfields of Central Illinois severely curtails this pursuit. Sweet is a librarian by day and masquerades as a USAT coach by night. Like many of us, Sweet is constantly seeking that perfect parenthood-work-training balance.
Sweet is a six-time Ironman finisher, including Kona in 2008. Charlie/"TriCajun" is an age group triathlete who lives and trains in Southern Louisiana's Cajun country. He is a family physician and married father of four daughters. Charlie's longest triathlon distance was a 70.3 event until he scorched the Ironman Florida course with a wicked 12-hour-and-change finish in November, 2008. He has run several marathons and half-marathons, his most recent being the Mardi Gras marathon in New Orleans in February 2010 where he became a Boston qualifier.
Charlie's biggest goal in life is to be a great father and husband. He loves participating in triathlon because it sets a good example of fitness and fun for his children. He also enjoys photography, boiling crawfish, and serving on mission trips, his most recent one being to Honduras. He and his wife Lisa started the Snake Bite Triathlon in their hometown Morgan City in 2009, and are looking forward to continuing to promote triathlon/fitness in south Louisiana with the race this summer. Sara/"TriSaraTops" is a high school history teacher near Cleveland, Ohio. She and her husband are enjoying raising a toddler boy and a brand new baby girl. Sara completed her first sprint triathlon in 2001 and never looked back. She worked her way up through road racing and sprint triathlons all the way to Ironman Wisconsin.
Sara's always up for an adventure, whether it's backpacking the Grand Canyon, surfing in Hawaii, or whitewater rafting in West Virginia. This year, she is very excited to get back into racing after spending much of last year in preparation for her little girl's arrival! In 2004, the athlete formally know as "Fat Rob" was overweight, lazy
and not doing much. Then "RobbyB" lost 35 pounds, left "Fat Rob" behind, and went on to race and finish Ironman Wisconsin 2005 ("The Hot One"). Since, he's continued racing and has climbed up the local racing results with several age group podium finishes in triathlons and aquathons.
With Iron Wil, he organizes the Wisconsin Ironman Brick Adventure (WIBA) weekend and is the captain of the wetsuit peeler volunteers at Ironman Wisconsin. Rob's latest challenge is balancing the of needs of training with raising a newborn, but he loves every minute of everything. John Paul/ "Pooh Bear" is a recent graduate of Michigan State University and in fact, discovered triathlon when the Michigan State Triathlon Club was forming. Through the club, he met most of his college friends and has loved being a part of the team's growth and success. If you cut him, he bleeds green.
He is now bouncing around the world and currently living and training with the Equipo Nacional in the Dominican Republic. Possibilities for next year include teaching in Mexico, Brazil, South Africa, or South Korea.
Regarding the tri scene, John Paul has raced in several 70.3s, a slew of Olympic distance races, Dominican ITU races, and Ironman Wisconsin. He owes everything to his wonderful family and girlfriend, Caitlin, who support him through the good and bad races, not to mention his life! His goals in triathlon are to never stagnate and to always keep it together up top. The main race this year for him is Ironman Florida. Sarah/“Pharmie” ran her first marathon in 2000 and has done at least one a year since. On July 17, 2004, she raced her first triathlon and decided that day that she would do Ironman. She realized that dream in Wisconsin in 2006 and again in 2007. A self-proclaimed “endurance junkie,” Sarah ran her first 50K last fall and hopes to run her first 50-mile trail run in the near future.
When Sarah is not working at her job as a clinical pharmacist in a Minneapolis hospital, she enjoys finding new adventures with her always supportive husband, Steve. Sarah’s passion is helping others discover triathlon and endurance sport; she has introduced countless friends, family, coworkers, and random acquaintances to the scene.
